China’s exports of polyether polyols from January to April 2025 amounted to 872,633 tonnes. The top 10 export destinations were Turkey, India, Vietnam, the UAE, Brazil, Russia, Indonesia, Italy, South Korea, and Mexico.
China exported 216,929 tonnes of polyether polyols in April, a 15% decrease from 255,528 tonnes in March but a 14% increase year-on-year compared to 190,046 tonne in April of 2024. This indicates that in 2025, Chinese polyether polyol exports has significantly expanded despite certain impact from tariffs.
China’s polyol exports declined to many countries or regions in the month but achieved growth against the trend in some markets. Among the top 10 export destinations, Brazil and Mexico stood out with month-on-month growths exceeding 40%, while Vietnam maintained steady growth with an 18% increase compared to the previous month.
Moreover, new export growth was observed in certain countries.
Portugal
In 2024, China’s polyol exports to Portugal totaled 7,792 tonnes, at 649 tonnes per month.
China’s exports to Portugal reached 2,548 tonnes in April 2025 and amounted to 5,364 tonnes in the first four months of this year.
The average monthly export volume increased by 107% compared to the previous year.
Croatia
In 2024, China exported totally 6,998 tonnes of polyols to Croatia, averaging 583 tonnes per month.
In April 2025, exports to Croatia were 1,345 tonnes, with a cumulative 2,841 tonnes from January to April.
April exports jumped 295% month-on-month.
Greece
In 2024, China’s polyol exports to Greece were 2,896 tonnes, at 241 tonnes per month.
In April 2025, exports reached 685 tonnes, with a cumulative total of 1,493 tonnes.
April exports increased 57% month-on-month, and the average monthly export volume rose 54.6% year-on-year.
France
In 2024, China’s polyol exports to France were 1,004 tonnes, at 84 tonnes per month.
In April 2025, exports surged to 693 tonnes, with 858 tonnes cumulatively from January to April.
April’s export volume was 7 times higher than the average monthly level in 2024.
In summary, two key points can be observed:
1. New markets for Chinese polyether polyol exports, such as France, are primarily in Europe. This conclusion is basically consistent with the previous forecast of further growth in China’s polyol exports to Europe.
2. China is steadily expanding its polyol exports, with export volumes continuing to increase. The exports in May are expected to rise further amid U.S.-China 90-day tariff pause.
