Hitachi Compressors, Strengthening Singapore’s Petrochemical HubAster Doubles Ethylene Export Capacity with

Singapore, 27 November 2025 – Aster, a major energy and chemical solutions provider in Southeast Asia, has announced a new collaboration with Hitachi Asia Ltd to significantly boost ethylene export capacity at its Aster Bukom Island complex. By adopting Hitachi’s advanced compressor solutions, Aster will double its ethylene export capability, enhancing the company’s production efficiency, operational flexibility and regional supply reliability.

This strategic investment comes amid growing global demand for ethylene—one of the petrochemical industry’s most essential feedstocks used in plastics, textiles, packaging and specialty chemicals. Strengthening export performance also reinforces Singapore’s position as a leading petrochemical hub in Asia.

Under the agreement, Hitachi Industrial Products will manufacture and supply two next-generation compressor units, scheduled for delivery in January 2027. These systems will support the installation of a parallel ethylene chiller, enabling more robust ethylene logistics and greater flexibility in outbound product handling. The upgrade will also deepen integration with the Chandra Asri cracker facility in Cilegon, optimizing the regional C2 derivatives value chain and improving cross-facility operational synergy.

Mashhad Dohadwala, Aster’s Director of Projects & Technology, commented:
“By adding a parallel chiller system to double our ethylene export capacity, we are making a long-term commitment to strengthening regional supply networks. This investment supports Singapore’s role as a competitive petrochemical export hub, backed by 1.1 million metric tons of cracker capacity each year. It also aligns with Aster’s priorities in operational efficiency, supply reliability and innovation across key areas—including logistics enhancements, renewable operations, and the growth of sustainable packaging solutions. Partnering with Hitachi allows us to expand our asset base with trusted global technology providers and build a more resilient, integrated chemicals ecosystem.”

Chew Huat Seng, General Manager of Hitachi Asia’s Industrial Products Business Unit, added:
“We are honored to support this important expansion project with Aster. Our longstanding partnership enables us to deliver seamless project execution, from manufacturing and delivery to commissioning. Hitachi remains committed to enabling meaningful progress in the petrochemical sector and contributing to a more sustainable future alongside our valued partners.”
